Saint Nicholas Feast Day This Sunday Night
The time is upon us to celebrate the glorious Saint Nicholas Feast Day. He is the glorious Saint from Myra and Lycia and the true “St. Nich”. His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) will be presiding as well as His Grace, Bishop George of Mayfield. According to God’s will, there will be an ordination to the Priesthood as well. Many clergymen will be in attendance.

Metropolitan Hilarion’s Schedule Through December 2011
In 1984, at the young age of 36, Fr Hilarion was consecrated a bishop by Metropolitan Philaret of New York and nine other bishops and was appointed to the see of Manhattan, charged with overseeing the parishes in Pennsylvania and serving as deputy secretary for the Synod of Bishops. In 1995, Bishop Hilarion was transferred to the See of Washington while retaining his residence in New York. This did not last long, however, in June 1996, recognizing his pastoral gifts, he was transferred to the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand (which was experiencing some problems at that stage) and raised to the rank of archbishop. In 2003 he was awarded the honour of wearing a diamond cross on his klobuk.

With the gracious blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan HILARION of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and His Eminence Archbishop KYRILL of San Francisco and Western America, the Wonderworking and Myrrh-streaming “Hawaiian” Iveron Icon of the Mother of God will be returning to the East Coast at the invitation of the Holy Cross Orthodox Monastery in Wayne, West Virginia. The monastery is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. The wonderworking Hawaiian Icon (a paper copy of the Myrrh-streaming Montreal-Iveron Icon), in a span of just under four years, has healed, through the grace of God, a great many faithful of both spiritual and physical sufferings, including; cancer, blindness, kidney failure, demonic possession, and even certain death amongst several blessed individuals.

2nd Annual Orthodox Asheville Liturgy in the Park
The 2nd Annual Orthodox Asheville Divine Liturgy is this Saturday, May 14, 2011, beginning at 10:30am. This grassroots movement called “Orthodox Asheville” was born with God’s help and faithful Orthodox Christians in the area that want to spread the glory and majesty of the Orthodox Church to everyone in Asheville and Western North Carolina. It will be held at Malvern Hills Park in West Asheville under an open canopy on a wonderful Spring day. A picnic will follow; keep reading for exact details.
What Churches Represent “Orthodox Asheville”
There are four different Orthodox Christian Churches in the Asheville, NC area: Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Saints Joseph & Andrew Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, and the blessed Protection of the Theotokos Monastery of the Orthodox Church of America. Each Orthodox Christian Church is self-governed and are in Communion with one another. Currently, all Orthodox Churches will be represented by their respective clergy members at the 2nd Annual Orthodox Asheville Liturgy in the Park, save Saints Joseph and Andrew Church.
