Icon Fund Drive
Orthodox Christian icons are very important for worship, and King David confirmed that when he said, “Bless those that love the beauty of Thy house.” Orthodox Christian iconography is an ancient art-form that attracts both secular and religious artists alike. Since our beginning, Saint Nicholas Parish has been blessed with the work from master iconographer, Elizabeth Randell
Elizabeth Randall has been writing/painting icons since the year 2000 and has been an artist her entire life. She studied under master Russian iconograhers at Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg in 2005. She also studied under the brilliant iconographer Xenia Pokrovsky and Phil Zimmerman. Elizabeth focuses her technique using a more traditional iconography medium, using egg-tempera instead of acrylic. Her studio is in Boone, North Carolina. She has completed work for Orthodox Christian Churches across the nation, from the large to the small, and continues to labor for Christ through her amazing ministry. The entire iconastasis at Saint Nicholas parish is comprised of Elizabeth’s work, with the exception of the festal row. She also wrote/painted the very large fresco of the Mother of God in the altar of our Church called, More Spacious than the Heavens.

The new icon of St Elizabeth!
Saint Nicholas Parish has officially commissioned Elizabeth Randell to beautify the entire inside walls with Orthodox iconography, including eight life-size Orthodox Christian Saints, border-curtains, and small crosses throughout. In addition, there will be 12 medallions depicting saints along the top of the wall and between the life-size icons. On each wall there will be four frescoes. Elizabeth has already installed Saint Elizabeth the New-Martyr on the north wall. It is a beautiful icon and can be seen below. The remaining icons on the north wall will be Saint Xenia of St. Petersburg, Saint Mary Magdalen and Saint Mary of Egypt. On the south wall there will be the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers of Russia, Saint Seraphim of Sarov, The Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon and All the Saints of America that includes Saint John Maximovitch. All of these particular Saints have a special significance for Saint Nicholas Parish.
